If you’re in the market for a move-in-ready home and are being wowed by a newly renovated bath, take heed of the following telltale signs of a cheaply flipped bathroom so you can avoid having to make costly repairs in the future.
If it looks like the tub has been refinished, make sure that the plumbing fixtures match. Also check for visible cracks and chipping on the tub surface as well.
Make sure the tile cuts are symmetrical and that the grout lines line up. Check that the corner tiles look clean and flush. Make sure there is a shower door as well since this could cost a few thousand dollars to install if it is missing.
This is important folks!! This helps reduce moisture in your loo. Make sure that they actually turn on, vent to the outside of the home, and are the proper size for the room.
A fresh coat of pain on a shoddy window can indicate a quick repair to a rotting window. Make sure if the bathroom has a window you open, close, and inspect it to check for water damage.
If the faucets look new, check to ensure the pipes under the sink look new as well. Older water lines could have worn seals that may have needed to be replaced at the same time.
The nose knows, folks. If something doesn't smell right, it probably is not.
